Starting Lineup
Each fantasy football team consists of the following:

Quarterbacks - 1
Running Backs - 2
Wide Receivers - 3
Tight Ends - 1
Kicker - 1
Defense/Special Teams - 1

Since fantasy football games are weekly there are no reserve or "bench" players.

Joining a Contest
"Open Contests" are fantasy football games that have at least one slot left for another participant. Contests vary in number of participants allowed and by entry fee. When viewing the Open Contests you'll see the:

• NFL Week of play
• draft date & time
• number of participants
• required entry fee.

You can even view details about owners such as their game history, past lineups etc. before you join a specific contest.

Creating a Contest
You can also create your own weekly fantasy football competitions.  When you set up a contest you'll decide:

• the NFL Week of competition
• the max # of participants
• the draft date/time
• the required entry fee (and thus the winning prize amount)
• public/private contest

Next, you invite friends and other Playerline users to participate. If you make your contest "public" then other people will be able to join your contest until your maximum number of participants is reached.

Challenges (or invites) may also be sent to other Playerline users and friends who have not yet registered (they'll be prompted to create their account before joining the contest).     

Live Draft
Every contest has a scheduled "Live Draft" in which owners pick players and assemble their teams in real-time. Drafts are conducted much like traditional fantasy football accept you only pick 9 players for a starting roster (1QB, 2RB's, 3WR's, 1TE, 1D, 1K).

Rankings Players
You don't have to be present for your contest's draft. Beforehand you can rank NFL players for that particular week (based upon their matchups etc.) and the system will automatically draft for you. Your status is set to autodraft if you are not present in the Live Draft Room so you never have to worry about not being able to field a team.

Fantasy football games are weekly so you create your player rankings based upon the NFL player matchups for that week.

Transactions ("Add/Drops")
After the draft is conducted the Contest Details page will display the draft results and the resulting teams of all owners. At this point all owners may do transactions on a first come, first serve basis. Participants may add free agents to their team but they must drop a current player at the same position to make room for that player. Each transaction (one added player and one dropped player) incurs a .50 transaction fee that is deducted from the owners Playerline account.

*Owners can do transactions immediately after the draft is conducted and up until 5 minutes before kickoff of the first game of the week.

Owners may participate in an unlimited number of games (so there is not a prize limit for any one participant unless that particpant lives in a State that has certain contest restrictions. See our legal contest regulations page for more information).

Winning prizes for fantasy football contests are placed in your Playerline account every Tuesday morning.  Account withdraws are free and unlimited.
