Aaron NolaSP | Phillies

Aaron Nola requested $6.75 million and was offered $4.5 million by the Phillies when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday.January 11, 2019 | 05:08 PM

That's quite the spread there, so it's not difficult to see why the two sides couldn't reach an agreement before Friday's deadline. MLBTradeRumors.com projected that Nola would earn $6.6 million via arbitration, so they're clearly siding with the star right-hander over the Phillies. Nola finished third in the voting for the National League Cy Young Award in 2018, compiling a stellar 2.37 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 224/58 K/BB ratio across 212 1/3 innings while going 17-6.
