Chris Archer annihilated in return from ILMay 15, 2019 | 04:16 PM

Chris Archer was touched up for four hits and seven runs (six earned) over 3 2/3 innings Wednesday in Pittsburgh's loss to the Diamondbacks. He logged five strikeouts and four walks over 80 pitches. Archer barely made it out of the first, beginning the game by walking the bases loaded. Things got even worse in the fourth inning when Archer allowed four runs, all with two outs, before manager Clint Hurdle finally decided he had seen enough. The last pitch Archer threw was clobbered by Eduardo Escobar for a towering 390-foot home run. Archer, who was activated from the injured list Wednesday after missing time with right thumb inflammation, has lost each of his last three starts while seeing his ERA rise from 2.00 to 5.58. He'll look to improve that figure when he returns to the mound next Wednesday versus Colorado.
