Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports that the Marlins have discussed packaging Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon in a trade with the Giants.November 20, 2017 | 06:39 AM

According to Mish, second baseman Joe Panik and prospects Tyler Beede and Chris Shaw are the names that could potentially go back to the Marlins. While the Marlins would get prospects back with this proposal, it appears that the main goal would be unloading salary. Stanton, of course, is owed $295 million over the next 10 seasons while Gordon is owed $38.9 million through 2020. It's important to note that there's nothing to indicate that a deal is imminent. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported Sunday that the Cardinals have also made a formal trade offer, but the thought is that Stanton would welcome a trade to the West Coast. There should be more clarity on the situation as the Winter Meetings approach.
