Pedroia likely to avoid disabled listApril 24, 2017 | 02:29 PM

Dustin Pedroia had his left knee and ankle examined at Massachusetts General Hospital during Monday's off-day, and it doesn't appear the Red Sox second baseman will have to go on the 10-day disabled list. Writer's Analysis: The Red Sox released a statement declaring that Pedroia remains day to day after the Orioles' Manny Machado slid into him on Friday night. Pedroia didn't play on Saturday or Sunday. The Red Sox open a 10-game homestand against the Yankees on Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval's availability for that game is also in question, as he sprained his right knee during Sunday's 6-2 win, and he will undergo an MRI on Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital. Meanwhile, left-hander David Price, who hasn't pitched this season due to a left elbow strain, had a productive day at Fenway on Monday, throwing a 45-pitch bullpen session. Price replicated three innings by taking a break every 15 pitches. There is still no timetable on Price's return to action, though he might not be far from starting a Minor League rehab assignment, pending how he feels on Tuesday.
