Kyle Lowry (thumb) withdraws from Team USAAugust 12, 2019 | 02:34 PM
Kyle Lowry (thumb) will not compete with Team USA at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Lowry wanted to play for the National Team despite just coming off of a Finals run, and he even showed up to training camp in Las Vegas, but he's still not been cleared to play since undergoing thumb surgery in July. It would be risky for him to take the international stage just a few months removed from surgery, so he'll use the summer to rehab instead. For what it's worth, he's still hopeful to suit up for the 2020 Team USA Olympic squad.
