Adrian Peterson expects backlash if he's ever cutJune 19, 2014 | 10:09 AM

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is the face of the franchise, and his likeness is being used in artists' renderings of the team's new stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2016. But will Peterson be on the team when the stadium opens, reports USA Today. Peterson said Wednesday he understands he might not. And he thinks if he's not on the team then fans would be quite unhappy. "I think the organization would take a heavy hit – for real – more so from the fan base," Peterson said. "I don't think it would be like a LeBron (James) situation where they're burning my jersey, this, that and the other. They might be doing (the opposite) and not buying some season tickets." When the stadium opens, Peterson will 31 years old. He has undergone surgeries in three straight offseasons and has a hefty contract, which is scheduled to pay him $58 million through 2017, none of it guaranteed.
