Belichick spoke to Norv Turner before Cam signingJune 29, 2020 | 12:00 AM

Norv Turner gave a "strong recommendation" to sign Cam Newton in a conversation with Bill Belichick this offseason, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer. Analysis: "Just look at the tape--played his a** off," Turner told Breer Sunday night when recalling the start of the 2018 season, the last time Newton played injury-free. "His issue was more health than anything else, and from what I understand, I don't think these are health issues that he can't overcome. He's had the time off now. I think he'll be great." Newton played his only two games of the 2019 season with a broken foot, an injury he sustained in a preseason game against the Patriots. Belichick reportedly spoke to multiple references across the league, and it is not shocking in the least he chose to not rely on a quarterback with four career pass attempts as his starter for the 2020 season in Jarrett Stidham.
