Brooks Orpik has been placed on waivers by the Colorado Avalanche.June 23, 2018 | 09:52 AM
Orpik was picked up by the Avs in the deal that netted them Philip Grubauer for a second round pick. The Avalanche had every intention to either trade Orpik or buy him out and it appears they have exhausted all their options on the trade front. If Orpik goes unclaimed on waivers and is bought out, he'll account for $2.5 million on the 2018-19 salary cap and another $1.5 million for the 2019-20 season.
