Joe Thornton was playing with a torn MCL and ACL in the playoffs.April 24, 2017 | 11:52 AM

"I've never seen a guy play with a torn MCL and ACL... It's a courageous effort as I've ever seen," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer. That's an understatement. It's amazing to think that Thornton was playing through that severe of an injury. Thornton had two assists and averaged 18:50 minutes in four postseason games, which is remarkable when you consider what he was working with. We have to wonder though if he'll be healthy enough to participate in training camp or if he might even miss a significant chunk of the 2017-18 campaign. Keep in mind that Thornton is also scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, so he might go unsigned this summer as teams wait to see how healthy the 37-year-old is come September.
