Minnesota hopes to sign restricted free agent Mikael Granlund soon to avoid going to arbitration.July 26, 2017 | 05:06 PM

Granlund's arbitration hearing is slated for August 4. The Wild would like to sign him and fellow RFA Nino Niederreiter to three- to five-year contracts. It's believed that Granlund would like to receive a long-term deal worth more than $6 million annually, but he'll probably have to come down from that number. There hasn't been a case to go to an arbitrator yet in the NHL and a contract could be worked out for Granlund as his hearing gets closer.
