Adalberto Mondesi (knee) no lock for Opening DayJanuary 24, 2023 | 07:10 PM
Red Sox general manager Chaim Bloom told reporters on Tuesday that Adalberto Mondesi is still rehabbing after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL on his left knee and may not be ready for Opening Day.
Analysis: Bloom also went on to say that he still views Enrique Hernandez as his club's starting shortstop -- even after Mondesi is ready to return. It's unlikely that the Red Sox would go out and acquire Mondesi if they didn't intend to play him regularly -- for as long as he's healthy. This could just mean that Mondesi will play second base -- or even function as somewhat of a utility infielder. Ultimately, expect the speedster to find plenty of at-bats whenever he's not on the injured list. Source: Ian Browne via Rotoworld.com
