Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the White Sox have expressed interest in acquiring Nicky Lopez from the Royals. Analysis: Rosenthal notes that the Royals aren't particularly eager to move Lopez however, and view him as an important depth piece -- even more so after trading away Adalberto Mondesi on Tuesday. The White Sox appear to be exploring all angles in regard to finding a starting second baseman, but it's hard to believe that Lopez would be a good answer. The 27-year-old is a terrific defender, but slashed an anemic .227/.281/.273 with zero home runs and 13 swipes over 480 plate appearances during the 2022 season.
