Hawks lose Onyeka Okongwu (shoulder) for 6 monthsJuly 22, 2021 | 01:02 AM
Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu underwent surgery to repair a torn right shoulder labrum on Wednesday and will miss approximately six months.
Analysis: The former No. 6 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft plays an important role off the bench as Clint Capela's back up and the Hawks simply haven't been able to catch a break on the injury front over the last couple seasons. This news could alter their draft-night plans, as well as what they do in free agency this summer, while we aren't likely to see Okongwu until January, at the earliest.
