Braden Holtby finally makes it to CanadaNovember 21, 2020 | 05:14 AM

Braden Holtby has finally crossed the border and into Canada after initially being denied because he and his wife had a pair of tortoises. Analysis: You can't make this stuff up. Holtby, who signed a two-year deal with Vancouver last month after spending his entire NHL career with Washington, was attempting to cross the border with his pets when he was denied. Holtby and his wife Brandi eventually were allowed into Canada and were able to bring in their pet tortoises. Holtbyt will compete with Thatcher Demko for the starting job in Vancouver with Holtby the likely candidate to begin the season as the starter. He was 25-14-6 for the Capitals last season with pedestrian peripheral numbers as his GAA was 3.11 and he had a .897 save percentage.
