Atlanta recalled Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. There's a decent chance Atlanta will need Elder to either start or eat some innings in relief in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series versus the Padres on Tuesday, as its pitching staff is short-handed following the doubleheader Monday and Chris Sale's (back) injury. Elder has collected a 6.52 ERA over 10 starts in the majors in 2024. Source: CBS Sports
