Chavis to play first and second base for SoxFebruary 13, 2020 | 07:34 PM
Michael Chavis will see time at both first and second base this year as the Red Sox look for ways to keep his power bat in the lineup.
Analysis: He will share time with Mitch Moreland at first base and with Jose Peraza at second base. Second base would seem to be his position on most days -- after all it is possible Peraza won't even make the roster considering he was one of the worst hitters in baseball in two of the last three seasons. Chavis put together a strong, if streaky, rookie campaign, slashing .254/.322/.444 with 18 home runs and 58 RBI in 95 games. His stick is capable of launching 30 home runs in a full season and he is willing to take a walk to boost his on-base percentage. He does carry some batting average risk thanks to an inflated strikeout rate and he doesn't steal bases, which will cap his fantasy value. Source: MassLive.com via Rotoworld.com
