Flaherty, Cardinals rout Braves in Game 5 winOctober 09, 2019 | 05:20 PM

Jack Flaherty allowed just one run over six innings while allowing four hits and striking out eight on Wednesday to help the Cardinals to a 13-1 victory over the Braves in Game 5 of the NLDS. Flaherty was given a ten-run cushion before he even took the mound, and that was plenty for the Cardinals' ace on Wednesday. There was some controversy in this one, as the Braves decided to leave the starter in for 104 pitches despite the big cushion. The only run allowed came on a Josh Donaldson solo blast. FLaherty and the Cards await the winner of the Nats-Dodgers on Wednesday evening, and he'll be pitching in Game 3 either in St. Louis or Washington on Monday.
