Rays' Mike Brosseau: Will compete for roster spotJune 29, 2020 | 11:19 PM

Brosseau, who is part of the Rays' 60-man player pool that will report to summer camp, retains a legitimate opportunity to secure a spot on the 30-man Opening Day roster due to his versatility, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Brosseau actually has plenty going for him offensively in addition to his ability to play all four infield and both corner outfield spots. The 26-year-old slashed a solid .273/.319/.462 over his first 142 plate big-league plate appearances in 2019, and he followed those numbers up with a .348 average (8-for-23) across 13 Grapefruit League contests before spring training was suspended. Given the extra four slots available to manager Kevin Cash over the first two weeks of the season, Brosseau's all-around skill set could be enough to garner him a spot on the Opening Day roster.
