Rival execs expecting Benintendi trade this weekJanuary 12, 2021 | 05:22 PM
A rival executive tells MLB. com's Mark Feinsand that he would be "shocked" if Andrew Benintendi wasn't traded before the end of this weekend.
Analysis: There's been growing buzz in recent days about a move involving Benintendi, with the Rangers, Astros, and Athletics being floated Tuesday as the leading candidates. Miami was known to have interest at one point but apparently had trouble lining up a return package to Boston's liking. Benintendi had a miserable, injury-plagued 2020 season and he also wasn't particularly great in 2019, but he posted a strong .290/.366/.465 batting line over 148 games in 2018 and finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year balloting in 2017 with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. The 26-year-old outfielder is under club control through 2022.
