Donovan Mitchell scores 29 points in USA lossSeptember 11, 2019 | 06:54 AM
Donovan Mitchell accounted for 29 points (12-of-23 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in Team USA's 89-79 loss to France.
The United States, which had already clinched a berth in next year's Summer Olympics, will not medal at this year's FIBA Basketball World Cup. Mitchell had his best offensive effort of the tournament in Wednesday's quarterfinal loss to France, but he went scoreless in the fourth quarter as the US seemed to go away from him offensively. And when the young guard did get his chances to make plays down the stretch, he usually found Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert waiting for him in the paint. All things considered this was a good experience for Mitchell, with the focus now being on the upcoming NBA season.
