Elfrid Payton returns to Knicks on one-year dealNovember 21, 2020 | 02:24 PM
Elfrid Payton has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the Knicks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Analysis: Payton started 36 of the 45 games he appeared in last season, averaging 10.4 points, 7.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals. Unfortunately, his fantasy appeal was undermined by a lack of perimeter shooting (0.3 triples) and terrible percentages (43.9% FGs, 57.0% FTs). Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina are still on the roster, so Payton will need to fight for his role under new coach Tom Thibodeau. If he wins the starting job he'll at least be worth targeting for steals and assists.
