NBA discussing tournament & late-game rules changeSeptember 13, 2021 | 03:47 PM

The NBA is discussing an in-season tournament with prizes of $1 million per player, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Analysis: The league's competition committee met on Monday and discussed various initiatives, including the long-discussed possibility of a mid-season tournament. It remains to be seen whether million-dollar bounties will be enough to win over the Players Union, led by new NBPA president C. J. McCollum. The league is also considering an officiating change to speed up play in the final minutes of games. Under the new rule, coach's challenges would be the only trigger for out-of-bounds possession review in the final two minutes. That rule will be voted on in September.
