Oladipo injury nets Pacers $10M insuranceMarch 23, 2020 | 06:39 PM
According to J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the Pacers received a $10 million insurance due to the right quad tendon tear that Victor Oladipo suffered last season.
Analysis: That insurance drops the dollar amount that the Pacers are paying in salary to $104.6 million, which would be the lowest in the league by nearly $8 million (Atlanta is currently 30th at $112.3 million). With the league still not knowing what the ultimate financial impact of the coronavirus-sparked shutdown will be, saving some money here could be a big deal for Indiana when it comes to the salary cap. According to the Star, a 5% cap decrease ($109.25 million) would be far more manageable for most teams than a 10% decrease (103.5 million).
