Pau: 'Inevitable" to think about retirementMarch 23, 2020 | 06:39 PM
Pau Gasol said in an interview with El Pais that it is "undoubtedly inevitable to think about retirement."
Analysis: "With this recovery process and the injury that I have been dealing with for more than a year, it's undoubtedly inevitable to think about retirement," Gasol said. "Also, taking into account that I will be 40 years old in a few months. So, it's definitely on my mind." Gasol is still working his way back after undergoing surgery to repair a navicular bone stress fracture in his left foot towards the end of the 2018-19 season. Given his age and the recovery timeline, which was projected to last anywhere from 6-12 months, it's understandable that Gasol would occasionally think of retiring. He did say last month that he hopes to return next season, but we'll have to wait and see what Gasol ultimately decides.
