Report: Caldwell-Pope expected to opt outOctober 15, 2020 | 08:18 AM
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to opt out of the final year of his current contract according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Analysis: Much-maligned within the Lakers fan base early in his time in Los Angeles, Caldwell-Pope was a key contributor during the team's post-restart run to the NBA title. Due to make $8.5 million next season, KCP is expected to instead hit the open market. And while there is reportedly interest between he and the Lakers to continue their partnership, Caldwell-Pope won't lack for options on the open market either. Charania mentioned Atlanta, which is in need of productive veterans to help out that young roster, as a team that may be interested in the Georgia native.
