Report: LeBron (foot) could need offseason surgeryMay 26, 2023 | 07:19 AM
According to The Athletic, LeBron James may have to undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right foot this summer.
Analysis: James dealt with the foot issue for a significant portion of this season (the injury was suffered on February 26), which makes performances like the one he produced in the first half of Monday's Game 4 loss to the Nuggets all the more incredible. While he would consistently appear on injury reports due to "soreness," the issue was more severe than that designation implied. Per the report, LeBron will undergo further evaluations to determine whether or not he needs surgery. Should that be the recommendation, he could miss up to two months, but the expectation is that James would be healthy by the time training camp rolls around in late September. While some have opined that his alluding to retirement after Game 4 was about applying pressure to the Lakers' front office to improve the roster, his foot injury could have also been on LeBron's mind at the time.
