Shams: Smart out for remainder of FIBA worldsSeptember 11, 2019 | 10:32 AM

According to Shams Charania of Stadium/The Athletic, Marcus Smart will be shut down for Team USA's final two games at the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Smart was limited during Team USA's pre-tournament slate due to a left calf strain, with that being just one of the injuries that he's nursing. With that being the case, it makes sense that he would be shut down now that the United States can't win a medal in China. Taking this approach should ensure that Smart is ready to go when the Celtics open training camp at the end of the month. Team USA plays Serbia on Thursday, then either Poland or the Czech Republic on Saturday.
