Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Strong start with new teamOctober 13, 2021 | 10:55 PM

Johnson scored a goal on two shots and doled out four hits in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Blackhawks. Johnson needed just 4:26 into the first game of the season to get loose for a breakaway goal. The Avalanche didn't look back after that. The 34-year-old was able to turn a tryout offer into a contract, and now it appears he'll at least fill a bottom-pairing role with penalty-killing duties in 2021-22. Johnson hasn't topped 20 points since 2016-17 with the Blue Jackets, so even his usually strong totals in hits and blocked shots likely won't be enough to attract attention from fantasy managers.
