Noah Hanifin hopes to land larger role with FlamesSeptember 14, 2021 | 06:29 AM

Noah Hanifin could be in store for a larger role with the Calgary Flames this season. Analysis: Hanifin is slated to get an increased role following the departure of Mark Giordano, who was taken in the expansion draft by the Seattle Kraken. "There's opportunity there this year," Hanifin said. "You lose a guy like Gio, that's a lot of minutes, that's a lot of different situations where someone's going to need to fill that role. That's something I'm excited about. I'm hoping to go and have a really strong camp, get my game in order, get ready to go, and then obviously try to take advantage of the opportunity that presents itself. There's obviously going to be a lot of competition. There's a lot of great defenseman in this organization. I'm just going to go out and just be myself, play my game, and those habits I feel I've built up in my game last year, if I can continue to build on those, I think everything will take care of itself." Hanifin is just 24 years of age and he has already played in 436 career regular-season contests. He earned four goals, 15 points, 89 shots and 40 blocks in 47 appearances last campaign.
