Rutherford: Jake Guentzel's rehab is going wellMarch 25, 2020 | 12:00 AM
Jake Guentzel's rehab from shoulder surgery is "going well," per Pittsburgh GM Jim Rutherford.
Analysis: "He's at the point that he'll return home and continue to rehab on his own," Rutherford said in a conference call on Wednesday. "All the reports that I have, there haven't been any setbacks at this point." On the potential that Guentzel will be ready to play if NHL play resumes, Rutherford said, "I would expect that, knowing Jake Guentzel, that he's going to be ready." It's still unclear when the NHL might resume play, but the playoffs may go into August if teams get back on the ice to try to complete the 2019-20 season. Guentzel was given a four-to-six month timetable for his recovery after he underwent surgery on Dec. 31. It remains uncertain when he will be ready to play if play resumes.
